After The Quake by Haruki Murakami
It’s a subtle yet strong voice upon an incidents of Kobe earthquake and Sarin gas massacre in Tokyo subway by Omu cult in 1990’s. Both lost and effected many lives which still has been. Contrast between natural and artificial disasters caused by so called “god” in their own terms.
For the author, Murakami’s approach, I found that is quite profound how he refers to music by the era and the literature on the website. On “After The Quake”, for example, Bill Evans and Pearl Jam songs are featured as part of the short playlist. It presents how memories of events can be engaged by music as soundtrack. Murakami always seems have a nice, intimate relationship with music, radio, and epicure.
Thus the radio as transmitters of culture delivers sound journey to listeners though Murakami’s retrospective program.
