It is the photo book of Helmut Newton who is one of the most known contemporary photographers . His style is often described as empowering female wickedness by savage and surrealism. Indeed fashion industry’s most adored photographer thus his provocative style of beauty throughout his filters.
He worked as photographer around the era of mid seventies to eighty’s. Many actors and celebrities have been captured as well as the images he created were colorful and storytelling although majority of his retrospective are known as black and white which he also admitted he is influenced by New Objectivity art during Weimar Republic in early 1900 which is renowned as Christian Shad and Eva both photography style has a profound effect in silhouette of objects. Especially Newton himself was Jewish and Eva also passed away in Consolation camp. He also admitted that he was influenced by Leni Riftsinlshtain who was known as Nazi’s photographer which explains his style homages to the eras of history in Germany.
There was a documentary film about him released last year. It gives very well explanation in the impact and importance of his work creative world for fashion and arts industry in his late career. It could say that Playfulness mind and curiosity brought object ( most of his case are female models ) another lives so called “empowerment “ and great outcome in his works.
I was looking at his book, and had a thought of often when you share your so called “openness and one’s perspective” are tend to be illuminated, offended by the receivers hence it occurs provoking effect in good and negative ways.
His museum ( Helmut Newton Foundation ) is located in Berlin. The architecture stands out profoundly with color. Definitely worthy to make time for next Berlin visit.
