“dublab.jp” is a Japan based art and cultural community as well as the correspondent of dublab radio station launched in 2012. The flagship is LA-based global Nonprofit Radio Broadcast organization, dublab.
Alongside the support of dublab headquarter and a local contributors, global including domestic music journalists, artists and DJs have been supporting the Japanese production growth. Thus the Tokyo branch is able to bring a distinctive perspective to unfound music, art, and culture, through hosting radio shows and events to raise public awareness of grassroots creative phenomena.
Based on the radio production formation, dublab.jp broadcasts a selection of quality eclectic music from various locations across Japan. It fosters organic engagement amongst listeners and all involved exploring the potential of music and art to benefit the society and individuals. Their philosophy demystifing space by sound and culture to lead a way of living that is more sustainable and qualitative through music, art, and culture.
As a profound and natural progression of dublab.jp, the organization also focuses on developing sound that creates a distinctive ambience in various aspects : for example, consultation and curating in music for commercial premises such as hotels is one of their great achievements. Collaborative work with Innovative lifestyle hotels like TRUNK(Hotel) and Park Hotel are memorable and certainly opened a door for possibilities of sound design. Also they curated lobby artwork for Marriott group, “Aloft HOTELS” in Ginza Tokyo 2021.
Another recent venture by dublab.jp is a partnership with a Japanese company, “TOHO-LEO Co.”. TOHO-LEO is specializing in greening and biophilic (i.e. : rooftop greening, wall greening and soil improvement), property management, and engineering services as well as technologies for urban greening using eco-building materials.
Their joint project, “Tokyo Kankyo” has a development and conceptual perspective in terms of building a sustainable environmental portfolio with sound and audio elements. “Tokyo Kankyo” organized several academic style social events recently which included a panel discussion, lecture, listening and networking sessions to engage, and exchange knowledge. It is certain that the philosophy and their career paths aim to co-create a more biophilic environmental society that olive branches to effective sustainability for individual lifestyles.
Among a number of sound and art design organizations from mass commercial to design laboratory styles, they certainly are one of the profound and independent collectives that we look forward to seeing unfolding their new neutral effects in urban and rural today.
It was quite fortunate opportunity to be at Tokyo Kankyo event and to resonated with people who understand that sound in diversity and sustainable as kind and quality growth.
